Read and write in different databases with the SE

Enviroment : Informix SE 7.1.0 Informix 4GL 6.02 Platform AIX 4.1.2 I'll like to know if somebody can tell me if it's possible to read and write in different databases with a 4gl program using the SE. I had help some from peoples that told me to use this syntax: INSERT INTO database@server:table SELECT * FROM database@server:table ... but I have this error and don't no if it's my settings or my engiine that does not accept it: SQL statement error number -554 syntax disallowed in this databases server.
