Windows just does not handle the load well enough. It tends to be a case of choosing which instance you want to run poorly and which you want to run far worse. Even the most basic instances tuned as small as possible seemed to be in constant contention for the same physical CPU and we never seemed to have enough memory. Even when we thought we had both instances running cleanly, after an hour or two, some large task would cause one instance to take all the resources away from the other. To be fair, I have not tried with terminal server. We had other issues with that even without multiple residency, such as onstats not working. All of the bugs we experienced are supposed to be resolved in 9.40.TC8, due out soon, possibly early next month. However, we do have some users using VMWare in test and development environments. It seems to do the trick as far as multiple residency is concerned. http://www.vmware.com/ Sincerely, Christopher Coleman Steering Committee President Kansas City Informix Users Group www.iiug.org/kciug Database Analyst Pharmacy Division Mediware Information Systems, Inc.
