(Hence the name Tim) A Varchar is limited to 255 bytes. A TEXT field is of unlimited size. My client writes copy material for book catalogs. Some of it can be very long, they are researching to see if they can live within the 32,767 character limit imposed by the Char. But. It I have to use a Char the DB is going to grow significantly. To switch from a DW doing all my updating to using the UpdateBLOB will require redesigning much of the application. Roger Meyers roger@stratsoft.com Strategic Software Solutions, San Francisco, CA
