We have found the problem was with the hardware installation.

Hello Tracy,
I installed IDS 7.31.UC2 at Waco. We had to do this to place
replication in. I originally had similar problems. You need to watch
the size of your instance. SCO has a problem with a large section of
memory. We have opened a case with Informix about this and they are
working on it. You can get exact size of SHMVIRTSIZE from Chuck, but I
think it is a little over 200,000.
