Ontape command to restore DB from ids10 UC4 to UC6

Hi All, I have taken a 0 level backup using "ontape -s -L 0" command from IDS 10.00 UC4 . can it be restored in IDS 10.00 UC6 using ontape -r. please let me know how do i transfer the database from IDS10.00 UC4 to ids 10 UC6 using ontape or any other command. Thanks and Regards Deepak Biswas

Deepak, Since ids10 UC4 to UC6 is nothing but to implement a new FixPack , So I believe no conversion-reversion is needed. It is just like you are in a same version. To be more specific to the question you have asked 1. Level 0 backup taken using "ontape -s -L 0" command from IDS 10.00 UC4 can be restored in IDS 10.00 UC6 using ontape -r 2. To convert IDS 10.00 UC4 to IDS 10.00 UC6 , bring down your current Informix server engine . Set the Informix environment you are using currently. Un-install the 10.00 UC4 . Then Install 10.00 UC6 . Now make your database up by "oninit -v" with same $ONCONFIG currently you are using . It will come up with IDS 10.00 UC6. Thanks.. It will work just fine if it's the same OS. The restore will prompt you about 'version not compatible' but that's just a disclaimer; ignore it. It's just a 10.00 to 10.00 restore.
