Sorry, that I haven't read the original post, but I'll give it a try anyway. I'd do the following: Create a table and then create a view on that table, that incorporates a virtual column that is a constant. E.g. CREATE VIEW blahblah (virtcol,col1,col2,col3,col4,...) AS SELECT "",col1,col2,col3,col4,... FROM blah_table Maybe this helps, Roland
