Ok we do automated level 0 backups of informix DBSpaces using tbtape to disk. We dont do logs. However, i would imagine this will work either way. Set you tape device to /filesystem/filename, then touch /filesystem/filename as informix (eg owner informix.informix). This works until you run out of disk space. Now, informix UK provided me with a shell script which automated this completely to the point of having a list of filesystem/filename which it would bumb up through until the database was backed up. This is a script in use by a major UK informix site. We have not needed it yet as we use disk spanning to defaeat the next volume requirement. This was done on a Sun platform with Online 5. Online 6 of course does away with all this nonsense. Check it out.
