Is there any work arounds to this, especially with respect to stored procedures/triggers. So far I have not found any way to do this. The manuals nor the IUG archives do not mention anything like this (unless I have missed something) I have a SQL Server application to port to Informix Online Work Group Server Ver 7.11 on an NT box. The frontend is Visual Basic. There are a few tables which have a 'comments' column defined as 'TEXT'. These columns are almost always populated with Char strings generated on the fly by stored procedures activated by triggers. The SYSTEM call is not supported in the version 7.11 of Informix Online WGS on NT. The only concern against changing the datatype to CHAR is space usage regardless of the contents in the comments column. What options do I have. Yours, Jayant Noronha
