Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
This thread is entirely off-topic banter, not a technical issue. Sparked by a remark about the July 4th US holiday, participants trade jokes about Bush and Blair, US election campaigning, the possibility of registering with the opposing party to nominate a weak candidate, and the role of the Electoral College (with a link to fec.gov explaining how it works). No Informix or technical problem is raised, and there is nothing to resolve — it's purely political humour among list regulars.
Auto-generated by DrWatson from the posts below — may be imperfect; read the full thread.
Are you saying that GWB won't need Mr. Blair in Nov, or that your hoping
to vote in a candidate that no-one would stand behind?

I'm not sure. Stay calm, we'll hopefully rectify that situation
this coming November.

Well, I think it's safe to say most Americans stand behind their
favorite candidates, however, only a few are on the campaign trail
willing to push ahead and really give what it takes to get their
man in the seat.

Tell me this, American chums, if you're (say) a republican, why don't you
register as a democrat then try to get elected as "your" candidate some
complete turkey?

You can vote in the national election no matter what party you belong
to, and there will be others on the ballot besides the two 'popular'
candidates. But it really doesn't matter who the average citizen
votes for, it's really The Electoral College:

It would seem that *both* sides have been doing just that for almost
228 years now. This explains a lot.
