Informix C++/GNU G++ libs for HPUX
Posted in 1999
As part of my 7.31.UC2 upgrade on HP-UX 10.20, I am beginning to use the Informix Object Interface for C++ product (OIC) on HP-UX. I am going to redo all of my old ESQL C code in C++. Very Cool. However, we have standardized on the GNU G++/GCC compilers on HP-UX. The libraries bundled w/ OIC are compiled w/ the native HP-UX C++ compiler. Because of name mangling issues, I cannot use the OIC libraries in HP-UX G++ compiles. My Question: Informix must use/be aware of the GNU compilers internally because of the Linux ports of IDS, ICONNECT, and the Client SDK. Is it not possible for me to somehow get my mitts on OIC libraries compiled w/ G++ under HP-UX? Isn't it just a matter of someone typing "make" in an alternate directory? I understand its Open Source, but couldn't Informix bundle them w/ the product and label them "use at your own risk/no support"?? The GNU compilers are becoming very popular on several unixy platforms. Are other folks having this same problem? thanks Allen
