Database sessions!

Is there a way to close idle database sessions after a certain time?We have too many open database sessions concurrently which most of them are not used by any users anymore. And this causes additional Virtual segments because of a large session pool..I know it has to do with the application (we use BaanIVc3 and Baan40c.050 GUI) but maybe Informix may close idle sessions....Thanks Sent via Deja.com http://www.deja.com/
Hm ... Is operating system doesn't close sockets automatical on timeout? I think you must to tune your OS. What OS you'r using? Sergey. No it does not...But I am not well on OS but does each database session has a different socket or are sockets opened due to the number of OS processes? We use HP-UX B11.... I don't know about HP-UX, but in general if you are using tcp connection ( doesn't matter soctcp or tlitcp ) you have a opened socket. Try to decrease tcp timeout - hope this help. ( As I know this is really useful for Informix on M$ NT4 ) Good luck. Sergey. Or you could have cron check every minute, hour, whatever for idle sessions
and have it issue an onmode -z.......

Well, but how you can to determine what session is really "zombie" ?
Sometimes you may to kill active session and this isn't looks well.
Are you agree?
