Re: convert functions??

Art has given you the answer. It is situation like this that IUS will be great for. Instead of asking 'does such a function exist', it will be 'has anyone build this function yet' ? Imagine in the future, if you need a sql stmt such as : select age_5_yrs(person) from tab where face looklike( beard, thick lips ... ) and you define your own looklike and age_5_yrs function. Wouldn't that be wonderful ? Art S. Kagel (kagel@bloomberg.com) wrote: : Al Dev wrote: : > : > Is there a convert functions in informix? In ESQL/C or : 4GL just select INTO an integer and if the string is convertable to an : integer it will be. If not a numeric conversion error will be reported. : Using dynamic SQL in ESQL/C you can explicitely tell the engine what : conversions you want in 4GL and fixed ESQL/C the conversions are : implied. : : Art S.
