Clem and Art discuss the merits of sharing... >> Actually, there's an intermediate step: write an article for Tech Notes. > >This has merit. Various people in Menlo have been after me to write for >Tech Notes for years. This might be a good first article. Especially >since I am always complaining that noone seems to know how to tune 7.xx >any better than I do and I don't know what the *&^% I am doing. I guess >I should put up what I have learned, and been taught, or shut up. I had a colleague one time who preached about the advancement of mankind through the dissemination of science. It must have affected me, 'cause now I get pretty bent out of shape when I find people who know something and there was no way for me to know it except finding it myself through painful trial and error. Another facet of that same inclination is getting upset when people say what they know, but not how they came to know it. I appreciated your crediting the BM people and also your own experience. Let me know if I can help or encourage you with that article. The editor at Informix is angelas@informix.com . I owe her one now on updating sadistics. ;) Cheers, Clem ______________________________________________________ Clem Akins (aka clema@informix.com) Informix Software, Inc (Standard disclaimers apply) International Technical Support Last seen: Enjoying the rain and cold of Auckland in July!
