Re: String handling in SPL
Posted in 1995
If it's any help - the bug in Online prior to 5.05 with string concatination in Stored Procedures ( using || ) is fixed in 5.05 and above (including version 7). The bug becomes apparent when the Stored Proc code is something like this: let x="AAA" let x=x||"BBB" let x=x||"CCC" return x In versions before 5.05 the bug caused the SP to return "AAABBB" (without the CCC part) and there was no known workaround from Informix (not that I have tried very hard to find one). I believe the problem even occured when different variables names were used. It is now fixed. regards Gavin Nour phr@fmsc.com.au (Peter Harris) wrote: >Sorry Andy, >The niggle stands; all I get is syntax errors when I try in Online 7. >For what its worth, I reckon it would be nice to have this this too. >Pete. >~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >~ Pete Harris Financial Market Software Consultants~ >~ phr@fmsc.com.au 109 Pitt St Sydney NSW 2000 ~ >~ Australia ~ >~ Tel +61 2 290 3944 ~ >~ Fax +61 2 262 2858 ~ >~ ~ >~ Disclaimers Apply ~ >~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ >On Wed, 13 Sep 1995, Andy Kent wrote: >> Can anyone tell me whether 7.10 addresses some of the awful string >> manipulation limitations found in 5.0x of SPL?My particular niggle at the >> moment is the inability to do variable subscripting, ie >> >> LET x = y[i,j]; >> >> (Sorry if this is a re-post, by the way.) >> >> akent@cix.compulink.co.uk (Andy Kent) >> ------------------------------------------------ >> Freelance Informix Database Specialist, >> Redland, Bristol, England >> --------------------------------------------------- Gavin Nour.
