Re: Logical logs usuage

Well that depends, Is your question to do with the fact that you use more logs at month-end? Well that seems reasonable, you are probably doing more things. Is your question to do with the sheer amount of logs that you are using = both on a daily basis, and at month end? Well, how much activity are you getting on your system, how big's your = system and what do you do with it? If you think that you are using too many logs then check the logging state = of your database. If you have it set to unbuffered logging then every = committed transaction, which probably includes every singleton sql = statement, is going to write a 32k (I think) block to the log, mostly = composed of white space. If you set it to buffered logging then you will use an order of magnitude = less logs but must accept the fact that in the event of a crash you will = lose whatever is in the buffer when the system goes down. It is horses = for courses. Personally all my databases are set to buffered logging. rgds Peter Tashkoff <tashkop@iname.com> Zespri International Limited Std Disclaimers Apply All rights reserved.
