Re: Great Lakes Informix User Group

Yes, I'm arround. :-) Actually, I'm in Cleveland taking care of my Dad. I've been here since April, so I haven't been around. (Chicago that is.... :-( ) Unfortunately, most of the board members have real jobs, and if you haven't noticed, there are a lot of oportunities in Chicago. We really have two major problems. 1) Location. Chicagoland is big. (Think of a radius of 40 miles from downtown.) There are a lot of suburbanites who would like the meeting in the burbs, however, try finding a meeting place where we can all meet and miss the rush hour traffic. I know we have talked about trying to find a place downtown. (Bill, care to volunteer? :-) [SSA, is in the CitiBank/Metra Station on Madison Ave. ] 2) Re-org at Informix. Phil Nelson had departed from Informix, and there has been a re-org of the local office. Things are still in a state of Flux. Gloria is gone too so the office is under *new* management. We still need to do a mass mailing and try to get everyone to sign up onto a majordomo list serv. (The most efficient way to manage the communication.) If there are users from the Chicago Area, please feel free to drop me a line at Mikey (at) Segel (dot) com. [Sorry, I hate Spam]. We have also toyed with the idea of starting the meetings earlier in the afternoon. I think there have been some other user groups doing this and it seems to work. -Mikey BTW Bill, its great to have a few interested souls. Lets see what we can do.
