Update Statistics, with a Table Named Distribution
Posted in 2010
User reported syntax error when running UPDATE STATISTICS on a table named "distributiions" in IDS 11.50.FC5. Suggestions offered were to use quotes around the table name or prefix with owner name (owner.tablename). User confirmed quotes didn't work and planned to test the owner.tablename approach. No final resolution confirmation provided in thread.

IDS 11.50.FC5 AIX 5.3 I am attempting to establish resolution and confidence factors for tables within a particular database; however, there is a table named "distributiions" within this database and it is too ingrained within the code to change at this time. This table name generates a syntax error when trying to use this table name in an UPDATE STATISTICS command. Any ideas on how I can specify this tablename within the Update Statistics SQL? Thanks in advance. Did you try using the fully qualified table name, or at least owner.tabname? John F. I tried the quotes and it did not work, will try the tablename idea when I return to work tomorrow. Thanks, O. I am sure John had something very illuminating to say; we just aren't on the
same level as he and need someone to translate it into common everyday
language.
