What is max. column name size?

Greetings everyone, I've got a couple really basic questions about Informix that I'd like to know for comparison with Oracle and DB2. Thanks in advance for your consideration. 1. When naming columns: A. How long can names be? B. What characters can be used (any special characters illegal) ? 2. What data types does Informix support?
