Except that it will not work with online 7. During a level 0 archive
version 7 on ontape
a) open tape device
b) write an archive header to the tape device
c) closes the tape device (expects it to rewind here!)
d) opens the tape device (Note does not seek back to the start of the
tape, expects the tape to already be there).
e) re-reads the archive header to check it was written correctly
f) write the archive to the tape.
THIS WILL FAIL ON NO REWINF DEVICES...
