Working with SQL on Informix 5.02
Posted in 1999
Topics: General Discussion
I'm trying to extract data from an Informix 5.02 database using sql scripts and I don't know how to execute the scripts. I found the SQL engine which is named SQLEXEC and attempted to execute the SQL scripts I generated by typing: sqlexec <filename> But the program seems to lock up and never returns. If anyone has any information on this older version of informix, I would greatly appreciate it Regards Kho Irani
The SQLEXEC process is the user's engine process it is not an interactive
process. It will be started automatically by any Informix front-end tasks.
The interactive SQL editor/processor is dbaccess. Just type dbaccess and
it will start up its menus where you can select a database to connect to
then enter your SQL or select a .sql file to load in and execute and many
other things like a menu driven table creation utility. If you prefer
a commandline you can use:
dbaccess dabasename sql_script_name
-OR-
dbaccess database_name - <sql_script_name
To run a script or just
dbaccess database_name -
to get an SQL prompt (> ) you can type SQL on.
