This is not quite correct, if I have understood you correctly. The
ESQL/C Pre-
processor will ignore lines beginning with #, satisfied to pass them on
unmolested to your local CPP. Before ANSI impose the EXEC SQL business,
the syntax for a statement to be interpreted by the ESQL pre-processor
was to begin the line with $ and precede every "host" variable with the
$ prefix. These will still work with the 7.2 ESQL. Informix is notabout to disenfranchise anyone.
The EXEC SQL syntax was introduced for compliance with the ANSI standard
on what ESQL should look like.
What does this have to do with you? If you have ESQL code from another
non-ANSI compliant ESQL, lacking both $ and EXEC SQL syntax, you have a
straigtforward but tedious task ahead of you.
If I have misinterpreted your situation... NEVER MIND.. ;-)
