A comment, based on long and (sometimes) painful experience as a user: -> I sometimes wonder if the people who designed Informix's window -> facility had anything in mind other than simple pop-up windows. No. -> Perhaps 4GL++ will provide something a bit more general. It might, but don't hold your breath :) Anyway, the problem is a lot more deep-rooted than just being able to access "real" windows. It requires a paradigm shift (lovely phrase, hey? - our politicians use it all the time! :)) from procedural programming to event-driven object-oriented programming which is far too subtle for a simple country bumpkin like myself. I don't think Informix would want to completely disorientate all their users.
