System Descriptor vs sqlda

Hi, I'm interested in hearing trade offs between sqlda and system descriptors. Are there a lot of developers out there using dynamic sql? The fact that System Descriptors follow the X/Open standard is attractive, but I can't ignore the fact that I will have to move data into a data structure from the descriptor into a data structure in order to return data back to a calling process (if I use an sqlda this can just be passed off as is).
