I know that this is off-topic, but has anyone used an open source data modeling tool ? If so, can you tell me if it was any good ? Also, has anyone used ERwin or Rational, and, if so, what did you think of it ? Walt PS: Has anyone set up an RSS replicate using verion 11 yet ?
I've used ER Win. It's very good and works well with IDS. It is just expensive. If it is database 'drawing tools', you might check out the list at: http://savage.net.au/Ron/html/drawing-tools.html > On Mon, Jul 28, 2008 at 10:36 AM, WALTER LOWICH <walterlowich@yahoo.com>wrote: >> I know that this is off-topic, but has anyone used an open source data >> modeling tool ? I used some freeware thing I found on sourceforge a while back. It did drawings, but not much else. I am currently using Erwin and ERStudio and have looked at RDA. Erwin is my favourite for working with Informix - it 'gets' everything and will give you decent volumetrics. I actually prefer ERStudio (especially for SQLServer), they have the best user experience I have seen, although they are missing a few Informix specific features. I gave them some suggestions - who knows. RDA seems like a very useful tool for a big shop with dedicated data architects, I found it hard to use at a casual level. j. Sane ego te vocavi.
