Wacky job offer
Posted in 2008
Not a technical problem thread: someone reposted a UK job advert seeking an "Informix 9.21 Product Specialist" in the West Midlands (telecoms, level 0 archive tooling, network analysis), joking that nobody remembers 9.21. Replies mocked the listing's £1-per-day salary field, noted some customers really are still running 9.21, and speculated about which telecoms firm it was. One poster asked what the requirement for knowledge "on tape" meant; no explanation was given and no resolution is recorded.

(Nothing to do with me, guv!) An Informix 9.21 Product Specialist is urgently required in the West Midlands. The Informix 9.21 Product Specialist will be responsible for: *Resolving alarm generation problems *Developing tools to enable level 0 archives to be taken from the customer network and loaded onto a blank platform so understanding of network issues can be gained. *Analysing the data and passing issues to the appropriate teams to be resolved The successful candidate will have: *An excellent knowledge of Informix 9.21 (ideally "on tape") *A background in telecoms *A working knowledge of developing tools *The ability to analyse network problems http://www.gisajob.com/show_job.cgi?j=5123354 (Kinell, does anyone even remember 9.21 any more? :o) -- Bye now, Obnoxio http://obotheclown.blogspot.com/

I have several customers still on 9.21 - one of them very much in the news recently. I see from the advert that the job pays up to '1 per day. Bring it On!
