Re: rm SE; fewer answers

Most systems probably will remove /usr/informix when you use programs that delete the informix user if he has that has his $HOME. Re: Why not more answers to questions... I am still at the 2.1 and 4.0 level, have read the manual, ALOT. Still don't know enough to answer many questions, but when I can I figure most of y'all will do it 1) first and/or 2) better. But simple questions like this one, that I may not know what is BEST but do know what WORKS, I try to answer, usually by email to avoid embarrassment (yes, there is a fear of being wrong!). But our email is notorious for not finding non .mil folks, so here I am again! Personally, I find a 3:1 ration between answers and questions on this list. I get my feed via email. In our effort to "do more with less", I only find time to scan the headers of my mail, seeking any email where the first 20 chars of the subject line reflect my level of products (we only use SE, ONLINE, 4GL, SQL). So perhaps I miss many where I could have answered, but relevant info isn't in the subject line. I simply don't have time to read them all. This also causes me to miss stuff which I will in all likelihood need to know later, and thus ask a repeat (to you) question. But the time to get an answer is when you need to know, not just when it is presented. I do save alot for future reference, and the FAQ exists, but have patience with those of us who still want HUMAN assistance! It would probably also be helpful if everyone who use the list to answer: "Read the FAQ" would simultaneously state HOW to do that. I do notice and appreciate the approach at standardization of using "Re:" to answer a message (in the subject). I suppose thats mostly your software packages, but I am glad its working that way. It makes the choice of what to read easier, and makes it easier to find headers of messages that span many days to follow a thread. I am glad folks like Jonathan and Alan and others still answer the simple questions, because even after these years (Informix admin is only a small part of my job), I still have lots of them! I get many answers via email, code, suggestions, examples etc. 'Nuff said. Thanks for being available all! Ann
