ODBC --> I-Net --> I-Star Help!

*** Tale of woe warning *** I'm attempting to get a report writer in Windows (Vision:Data from Sterling Software (formerly a product called Clear Access)) to talk to my Online 5.0 db. The guy who recommended this product is in sales and isn't much help, but eventually I discovered that I needed several pieces in between Vision:Data & Online. Enter Intersolv's ODBC driver, Informix-Star & Informix-Net for Windows! I seem to have Vision:Data talking to the ODBC Drivers. The ODBC driver can see the I-Net .dll files. But I-Net & I-Star don't seem to be communicating, since my PC doesn't even attempt to contact the server. The Intersolv people were helpful, making sure I had an entry in my services file, but they think the problem is Informix-based. I tried running ILOGIN.EXE, and it errors out with a -932, then a Winsock Error "getservbyname [WSANO_DATA]. In order to provide technical support, Informix wants me to upgrade I-net, I-star, AND my db engine to a developer's copy at a cost of around $8,000. Anyone have any ideas?
