Lost in a sea of patches

Greetings,
OS: Solaris 9
IDS 10.0UC4
I installed IDS this morning and it is up and running. Section 2B of
the machine notes indicate two compiler patches are required to
eliminate library errors when running either the HPL or "blademgr". The
patch numbers are listed below:
108434-01
108435-01
I downloaded the patches from sunsolve and was ready to go; well, not
quite:
Note: I also downloaded and installed the 9_recommended patch cluster.
Attempt to install 108434-01:
$ patchadd 108434-01This patch requires patch 109147-07 which
has not been applied to the system
No worries. I downloaded 109147-07 and went to work:
$ patchadd 109147-07One or more patch packages included in 109147-07
are not installed on this system.
What's the story? I'm starting to feel like a dog trying to catch it's
tail. Would someone be willing to throw me a life vest?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I think this questions may get more/better answers in a Solaris group...
It's more a problem in the OS than in the DBMS.

Go to the Sun patches page at www.sun/support , then Patches and Updates.
About halfway down on the lhs you can download patch bundles. These are
self-consistent bundles of patches.
