Q: ${ and $}: Huh?

Exactly what is the use of '${' and '$}' in ESQL/C? The documentation is kinda lame on this one. It says that you can use these to isolate the scope of a host variable. Yet in the section preceding this one, it says that (basically) host variables follow the same rules that regular C variables do (as I would expect). The example they give, from what I can tell, does not illustrate why one would want to use ${ and $} over regular old { and }. Am I missing something? If so, what? And is the statement they give in the example: $blk_int = $p_int; valid? Doesn't the preprocessor expect a keyword like 'SELECT' or 'DECLARE' after that initial $? Replies by e-mail or here in this area would be greatly appreciated. -Charlie Kapp charliek@infoconcepts.com or mistersci@aol.com
