We are new users of both Unix and Informix. Our experience so far has been
mixed. Their support line is understaffed. We currently have two open
problems with them. The first deals with orphaned processes holding onto locks
when in dbaccess the second regarding their onstat utility abending. Their
security is weak compared to the others and their data replication is only for
hot-site backup. It does not support the sort of replication which Sybase has.
There is an article in PC Week dated 9/5/94 which reviews some of the DB
servers.
