Can I use my DVD writer like a Tape Backup

Hi my friends, i want to ask something, Can i use my DVD writer like one TAPE Backup Unit on my Informix-9.4 Database? If i can, how i should configure that...?

I haven't done this but this is something you could try if your database is smaill in size: 1. Do the back up using ontape or onbar to the disk 2. Use ftp or scp to copy the backup on to your desktop 3. Then, copy the files to the CD Now, rememeber you may want to copy the ixbar files and oncfg files also should you have to restore using the CD, you are going to need them. Hope this helps. Ravi.
