INPUT CONTROL-B Call GetBarCodeField_xyz() returning a,b,c, etc put a,b,c, etc into fields of you choice display a,b,c,etc on screen END INPUT function GetBarCodeField_xyz() INPUT barcode without defaults after field formonly.barcode exit input END INPUT display "" to formonly.barcode ** format the barcode into fields of your choice return a,b,c,etc. end function The field "barcode" is setup on an "out of the way" area on the screen. The "barcode scanner" is setup to output a CONTROL-B at the beginning of each scan. When you are in an INPUT statment that has ON KEY(CONTROL-B) you can trap the incoming data using this technique. We would then break ASCII strings apart doing any necessary data checks, integer conversion, etc, and then store the resulting data in the screen fields on the initial INPUT statement. The scanners we use interface to serial port and are treated just like keyboard input every time you get a sucessful scan. Hope this helps. -- Michael J.
