I caution you to use an offset of 4K to avoid conflict with the operating system and NEVER NEVER make this disk part of a volume group. AIX will corrupt it if you do. If you mean raw locigal volume. You just create on of the correct size with smit. It will create the character (and block) device for you. You can then use it. Again, use a 4K offset for safety. Gary
