GLS sorting wrong
Posted in 1999
We are having problems getting GLS to sort our
NCHAR values properly.
Using dbaccess, here is the simple test I'm
running:
create database test;
create table tab1 (col1 nchar(1));
insert into tab1 values("A");
insert into tab1 values("'");
insert into tab1 values("'");
insert into tab1 values("'");
insert into tab1 values("'");
select * from tab1 order by col1;
We are using the fr_ca.8859-1 locale.
Here is the order which the rows should be
returned in (according to that locale's 0333.lc
file), as well as our test results.
Should be Our results
--------- -----------
A '
' A
' '
' '
' '
We are using the following:
HP 9000/897 running HP-UX 10.20
Informix-OnLine 7.31.UC2
Informix ILS 2.20.MC2
The following is set:
DB_LOCALE=fr_ca.8859-1
CLIENT_LOCALE=fr_ca.8859-1
Has anyone else run into this behavior?
Does anyone know how to get around it?
Could it be that we have to set something else,
perhaps at the UNIX level to get GLS to work?
Thanks.
