Once you've selected the database, the ISQL search is traditionally constrained to the directory which contains the database, rather than using the full DBPATH. To break free of that (obnoxious) traditional behaviour, you have to be using the current software. I think that change was made in 4.13/6.01, but it might have been 4.12/6.00. You didn't note which version of ISQL you are using, so I can't be absolutely certain. It has nothing to do with the version of the engine you are using, though thank you for quoting that -- it might have been relevant. Check the release notes.
