Hello, My system is AIX 5.1 running IDS 9.40.UC5W2. A number of err -951 are shown in online log. 1. Most of this error will show the user id, however for the error below it only appear as ERROR. Can anyone shed some light with this error on user ERROR? The database is still running at the meantime. 2. As mentioned above, a number of err -951 are shown in online log with the user id. These users encounter problem logging into application that access this IDS. For your knowledge, this AIX system is clustered. The system had been failover from cluster 1 to cluster 2 a few weeks ago. Is there any file that is missing in cluster 2(the live system) that control the password authentication? Below are a portion of the online log. Tue Aug 16 09:17:59 Maximum server connections 3481 09:19:18 internal error (2) in getuserattr() 09:19:18 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = ERROR: Incorrect password or user ERROR is not known on the database server. 09:19:31 internal error (2) in getuserattr() 09:19:31 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = ERROR: Incorrect password or user ERROR is not known on the database server. 09:19:44 internal error (2) in getuserattr() 09:19:44 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = ERROR: Incorrect password or user ERROR is not known on the database server. 09:20:14 internal error (2) in getuserattr() 09:20:14 listener-thread: err = -951: oserr = 0: errstr = ERROR: Incorrect password or user ERROR is not known on the database server.# Any advise and help are much appreciated! Hi,
how do you authenticate users on this system ?
Is it the same on this system (to which the fail-over happened)
as on the original system ?
Authentication usually requires file ownership and access-rights
for "oninit" binary like this:
-rwsr-sr-- ... root informix ... oninit
especially when using /etc/shadow for passwords.
Check that the users who cannot connect to IDS are able to login
to the machine itself (on UNIX level). (IDS uses the standard UNIX
method for user authentication.)
Regards,
Martin
