Informix Disk Offsets on SPARC Storage Array Volumes?

When defining a database space on a Sun Storage Array volume, is it necessary to specify an offset so that Informix will not overwrite disk label information? Or can one feel reasonably comfortable that the Veritas Volume Manager drivers will not allow that to happen? Sal.
