By using the DATETIME and INTERVAL datatypes, in conjunction with such functions as EXTEND(), you should be able to do everything you need; though the usage can be a little cryptic at times. The only thing you may find missing is handling of dates after 31/12/1999. Perhaps that's in 6.00, I'm not sure. > The format routines for a datetime dump core very often. As far as I know there is little / nothing you can do to influence the input / display formatting of datetimes. In other words, its not surprising you get problem because you're not supposed to do it. You have to stick with the pre-defined formats.
