There is a HOW-TO in process. Meanwhile:
There are complete installation instructions online on the web site.
Basically:
1) Create an Informix group: informix
2) Create an Informix user: informix as a member of group informix
3) Create an Informix home directory and an install directory
4) cd to the install directory
5) Export the following (you should add them to the login script also):
INFORMIXDIR=$PWD
INFORMIXSERVER=<aname for your server>
PATH=$INFORMIXDIR/bin:$PATH6) su root (without the '-' so you maintain the environment and cwd)
7) Untar the esql tar file
8) Execute the script installesql and follow the prompts using the Serial
number and Serial Key you got from the Web server.
9) Untar the SE engine tar file
10) Execute the script installse and follow the prompts using the same
Serial number and Key.
There are only a few more steps to being ready to create your first
database.
