Re: Kansas Highlights
Posted in 2008
Purely social, off-topic chatter rather than a technical thread: it discusses things to do around the IIUG conference in Kansas City, mainly whether to attend a Royals vs Blue Jays MLB game in April. Andrew Ford explains tickets can be bought in advance via royals.com once game times are set, but walk-up purchase on the day should be fine as a sell-out is unlikely. The rest drifts into jokes about Kansas City, jazz, steak, Scotch and New Zealand. No technical problem or resolution is recorded.

Now I *would* like that. I went to a San Francisco, er, , er (49ers? Or is that American Football?) game a few years back when on the IIUG board; in fact I've been to a few baseball games - great night out. Would I have to buy tickets in advance for that?
San Fransisco 49ers is American Football, San Fransisco Giants is Major League Baseball. You could buy tickets in advance (www.royals.com, you have to wait until the game time is determined to buy them online), but I'm guessing you can walk right up to the stadium and buy them on game day, I don't think this will be a sell out game. Kansas City used to be a hopping Jazz spot. "Going to Kansas City, Kansas City here I come There some fine looking women there, lord I'm gonna get me one." Kansas is also steak country. j. -----Original Message----- From: informix-list-bounces@iiug.org [mailto:informix-list-bounces@iiug.org]On Behalf Of Neil Truby Sent: Monday, January 07, 2008 5:41 PM To: informix-list@iiug.org Subject: Re: Kansas Highlights "Andrew Ford" <aford@networkip.net> wrote in message news:mailman.234.1199743967.20610.informix-list@iiug.org... > If you like baseball, want to go to a MLB game and will be getting to the > conference a little early; the Toronto Blue Jays will be in Kansas City to > take on the Royals Saturday April 26 and Sunday April 27 (times TDB). > These aren't exactly two powerhouse teams so tickets will be easy to get > and probably reasonably priced. It is the most open and friendly place I've found outside of Scotland. So the people who are judging the place without visiting are just showing their ignorance. Cheers Paul

Actually the meth problem has been documented on the Discovery Channel and or their sister channels. But Paul, your secret is safe with me. ;-) (And you know I'm just kidding.) _________________________________________________________________ Share life as it happens with the new Windows Live. http://www.windowslive.com/share.html?ocid=TXT_TAGHM_Wave2_sharelife_012008
