c function call in stored procedure

I have been asked to write a stored procedure that makes a call to a custom c function. Since my experience with stored procedures is minimal, I am unsure that this can be done, but am willing to give it a try. Any insights would be appreciated. Please, no RTFM comments. I am RTMF'ing right now, but would appreciate any suggestions or shortcuts.
