Cluster index or not ?

Cluster index or not ??? Do any of you know when I may use a cluster index ? I have a 400Mbyte table with about 400000 rows in an Informix Online system version 4.1. How often may I recluster the index (alter...). Deletes will be very uncommen. A lot of updates. A lot of queryes.
