RE: Getting epoch in dates

Well, assuming that the 'pop' operation is actually an INSERT, I'd hazard a guess that the inserted value isn't null but is zero - at least, 31st December 1899 is a giveaway that something thinks there's a zero in the date column rather than a null. So, first off, I'd look at the code which inserts the null into the DATE column - I think it's inserting zero. If it isn't that, then I'd look very carefully at the select code instead. If that's DB-Access, then look at the ESQL/C code exclusively... Don't forget: risnull(SQLDATE /* CDATETYPE? */, (char *)&dateval); Yours, Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@visa.com) #include <bother.ms-exchange.h> ---------- From: jparker@epsilon.com[SMTP:jparker@epsilon.com] Sent: Monday, March 23, 1998 11:10 AM To: informix-list@iiug.org Cc: Leffler, Jonathan; Jshah@epsilon.com Subject: Getting epoch in dates My colleague here (jshah) is using esql/c to pop values into a date column, when looking at the value after he's popped in a NULL it is 12/31/1899. I don't remember anything about esql/c except how to spell it. Is there some kind soul... adv(thanks)ance cheers j.
