Forced Residency? OnLine 5.02.UC6, Anyone using it?
Posted in 1994
We're deploying a new OLTP server with 90GB of disk space. We currently have 47MB in use for the Shared Memory sgement and 136MB setup for the maximum shared memory size (a training instance 17MB, and performance monitoring tools ??MB also use shared memory). All of this is defined within 256MB of memory. We are currently experiencing HEAVY paging when even 1 user performs a DBLOAD or query on the production instance. Although we are reviewing whether or not we need additional RAM, I suspect that another 256MB surely can hurt! Has anyone used the Forced Residency flag in the OnLine configuration file? Will this help reduce our radical paging problems? Albert E.
