I must be missing something... we have a DSS product and we just do a
SET PDQPRIORITY x;in the SQL code we generate. For create table, drop table, and select
from single entity SQL we set it to 0, for "real" statements we set it
to a user configurable setting.
Now if we could only get the real word from Informix on what PDQ really
means :-)
I assumed that since for most of our queries we see almost no speed
increase from a setting of 5 to 40, we could run 20 queries at 5. Nope,
no show. Informix recomends sending one query at a time throught the
engine at PDQ 100. It seems that multiple queries really freak the
engine out (8.1x).
We currently use JDBC drivers from weblogic (http://www.weblogic.com) to
make the connection, but we have used Visigenics and Intersolv ODBC
drivers as well as using the ESQL Runtime libs (I-Net, now C-Net).
