Datetime data type in ACE reports

The "datetime" data type is appearantly a newer addition to the ISQL / SE package, at least it's been added since my old version 2.1 system. My problem is I don't find any way to format the data in ACE reports. That is, we have "using=<format string>" for number and date data types, but I haven't been able to find any info for the datetime data type. While the data is stored (at least for me) in 24 hour format, some of my report readers don't understand this and want A.M. / P.M. formatted times. I've searched the latest INFORMIX-SQL manual and looked at the FAQs I could find, but I find no mention of any formatting for datetime. Any suggestions would be appreciated. -- Merv Graham P.O. Yes; it arrived with 4.00. > My problem is I don't find any way to format the data in ACE reports. > That is, we have "using=<format string>" for number and date data > types, but I haven't been able to find any info for the datetime data > type. Not surprising; there isn't any way to format them. > While the data is stored (at least for me) in 24 hour format, some > of my report readers don't understand this and want A.M. / P.M. > formatted times. It is probably easier to teach people how to handle the 24-hour clock. > I've searched the latest INFORMIX-SQL manual and looked at the FAQs I > could find, but I find no mention of any formatting for datetime. > > Any suggestions would be appreciated. Your only real option is to use I4GL instead, and then make calls onto appropriate ESQL/C library functions to convert the datetime into a string in the format you require. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>

There's another option; you could write a C function for use with ACE and build a custom ACE runner to use it. -- Jonathan Leffler (jleffler@informix.com, jleffler@earthlink.net) Guardian of DBD::Informix v0.60 -- see http://www.perl.com/CPAN #include <disclaimer.h>
