Most Unixes have a 2GB file size limit. Tbtape writes all of its archive in one open() statement, making it subject to the file size limit. It's usually pretty easy to have HP make some changes that will up the limit to at least 4GB (they need to use longs rather than ints in their seek routines), but unless Informix has changed their algorithms, you probably can't get any more data on the DAT. I've seen some info to the contrarary. Is anyone getting (and restoring from) more than 4GB tapes?
