ESQL/C for PERFORM Lookup/Browse
Posted in 1992
I am just starting to look into using ESQL/C 4.00 to customize some PERFORM screens. Is it possible to do a 4GL-type lookup window to pick a value from a screen array? For example, in 4GL, if a user is in a field you can use "ON KEY" and have a window pop-up with a pick list of values. Using PERFORM the user needs a printed out "cheat sheet" of values to make it easier to enter data. VERIFY JOINS and LOOKUPs are nice for data integrity but are not meant to be "user friendly" like a pick list is. Yes I know I should just use 4GL but I can't bring myself to spend countless hours coding the "Query-Add-Update-Remove" functions for forms. It's so much easier to just run a PERFORM screen. Has anyone written any ESQL/C programs to enhance PERFORM? Carl Mosley AT&T ctm@mvune.att.com
