Temporary storage tables.

Hi All, In our application, we have a need to store a table data temporarily in a temporary table, and regularly at night we need to update the actual table from temporary table. If the table name is employee, we need to take some data from employee table in morning, put it in temporary table, do processing on it( without disturbing data in actual employee table), and then in night finally update the actual employee table from the temporary table. How do i handle this in informix? Do i have to( and how do i?) maintain two versions of employee table? do i need to write some stored procedure to handle this? Thanks for your help.
