Hi It sounds like he only knows about cooked file systems. Tell him the + points of raw devices ONLINE can give him. Because of his limited knowledge, he only knows about NFS and might not have heard about INET or ISTAR. NFS adds so much extra overhead on the TCP/IP stack, that is why his solution will be !@#$ slow. Do some benchmark test form him. This will surely convince him.
